What gets measured.

A datasheet is a summary of somebody else's test. The useful work starts where the summary stops: at the operating point your mechanism actually sits at, on the duty cycle it actually runs.

The four questions a screening answers

  1. Where does it sit on the curve?

    The operating point, not the rated point. Speed, current and dissipation at your load, with the margin to stall stated as a number.

  2. Does the geartrain survive the duty?

    Peak and RMS output torque against the gearhead limit, stage count against backlash, and the start transient that a continuous rating never covers.

  3. What is unknown?

    Every value we hand back carries its basis: published, calculated, typical, or a limit. What we have not measured is named, not smoothed over.

  4. What single test closes the gap?

    One test, named, with the sample it needs. A comparison table is a screening. Test evidence is what qualifies a part.

Micro Motion is led by an American sub-fractional horsepower motor manufacturer who learned the production system by running it: stamping laminations, hobbing gears, machining pinions, winding coils, molding magnetic material, pressing pins, welding housings, building the tooling, assembling gear trains, testing, and finding out why a line stopped. That is why the conversation can go past the datasheet and into the process that decided the number on it.
